Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been suspended by India's cricket board (the BCCI) after comments about women on a television show. The ban was with immediate effect and the pair was told to return home from the tour of Australia in order to explain themselves.
Pandya and Rahul were welcomed on the popular celebrity talk show Koffee with Karan, which is hosted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar. The chat show is in its sixth season with Pandya and Rahul being the first time cricketers hosted.
Although Pandya has apologised saying he "got carried away with the show", he and Rahul are still facing the anger of Cricket and Koffee with Karan fans. As stated by BCCI "an enquiry and proceedings will be made against them for misconduct and indiscipline".

Pandya (photo credits - Indiatimes) commented about "hook-ups" with several women and highlighted he liked to observe women at bars or nightclubs. He spoke on the show about being open with his parents about the flings. However Rahul, who is yet to address the controversy, was more reserved with his comments.
Pandya apologised on social media stating: "I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect."
Indian captain Virat Kohli called the comments "inappropriate" and was without the two players for India's defeat in the opening match of a three-match one-day series. In fact, it is likely they may not even be selected for the tour of New Zealand which starts later this month.
Fans have also urged to the IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab, to have them barred from participation in the upcoming IPL too.
As controversy rages about the inappropriate comments made by Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on Koffee With Karan (photo credits - India Today), the episode has been pulled down by Hotstar.
Pandya has also apologised to MS Dhoni and coach Ravi Shastri for his statements on the show according to a report in Mumbai Mirror.
